Ranged characters have a LOT of natural advantages in SoulCal. Viola was the second best character, and it just so happens that she has effectively infinite range. The only reason APat was even top tier was due to a thin hitbox with hyper mobility, stopping ranged characters from abusing said range. What are you even talking about? I meant Xiba or what ever that dunces name was lmao. Originally posted by zachillios:Seong Mina wasn't in 5, and Viola was almost entirely ranged. If you don't intentionally make a character with high range bad in every scenario except ranged, the character will be strong, and in SC6, almost no ranged characters have an actual bad Point Blank Combat ability, with maybe the acception of Nightmare due to a lot of his pressure dropping since he likes to clip with trips into strings. Granted, I dont play Tekken 7 often so I dont know Tier Lists, but the fact that seeing someone have range can immediately make people concerned should scream 1000 words. Hed have a natural advantage over the rest of the melee cast, without the downsides of Tekken 7's Yoshi, which is attacks that almost never utilize the sword since Noctis was designed to try and stick to his theme of a sword weilder. Its one reason that people considered Noctis to be an S tier in Tekken 7 when he was first being added. To say that people with the ability to zone you and poke you down in a combat centric game arent naturally over tuned is ludicrous. If Setsuka is ever added back to the game, Id almost gurantee shed be deemed a counter to Seung, due to APat literally being a reskinned Setsu, and Apat being a ranged counter.

Seong Mina wasn't in 5, and Viola was almost entirely ranged. All except Kilik, who went from the best ranged character, to an All Random character, to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lesser mina. yea.) In 6, all of these poke characters pretty much got massive around the board buffs compared to the older format. (But competitive SC3 is considered a joke due to all the bugs and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ interactions, so. her pokes almost never went into combos either. Ivy didnt have as many tools in 5 as she does in 6 to be oppressive, and and Seung was never **THIS** consistant with her pokes. Nightmare was slower in 5 than he is in 6, so he couldnt just run you down if he got the range for it. Reddit, Twitter, etc) and blame game balancing because that lets them deny the fact that they lost. The first thing a majority of gamers do after they get titled is hop on a discussion board (8wayrun, Hell, look at Party Wolf (the 2nd best player in the world atm, via: EVO) his tier list for the top 2 brackets don't include nightmare, or siegfried. These discussion are plagued with "insert character here is overpowered", so much so 70% of the roster has been complained about. If ranged characters really were the biggest threat in the franchise, why would Alpha Patroklos and Natsu be extremely high tier in 5? Why would Xianghua be the highest tier character in 3? Every character has a counter, every character has strengths and weaknesses, and every character is annoying when fought against with a good player. I think what should be taken from this isn't "people complain about long ranged characters so they're op" and more so "inflammatory newer players who haven't learned how to counter ranged characters yet think they're op" What's the common thread between them? Long ranges. Originally posted by Lord Ponut:Think of the big 4 everyone complains about: Ivy, Siegfired, Nightmare and Seung Mina.
